ORTHOTICS
Orthotics are
shoe inserts that correct an abnormal or
irregular walking pattern. Orthotics are more than “arch supports", though this
is a common term used to describe them. They perform functions that make
standing, walking, and running more comfortable and efficient. This is done by
slightly altering
the angles at which the foot strikes the walking surface. Functional OrthoticsThe functional orthotic device may be made of a firm material such as plastic or carbon fiber, and is used primarily for walking or athletic shoes. The device generally extends along the sole of the heel to the ball of the foot. These orthotics are chiefly designed to control foot motion. These devices are long lasting, do not change shape and are usually very durable. Orthotics may improve or eliminate strains, aches and pains in the feet and legs. Accommodative Orthotics
If you are interested in getting orthotics or suffer from any of the common problems mentioned on this page, call the office today for an appointment.
